Make a detailed list of items being stored and keep it in a safe place.
Number the boxes to correspond to the list.
Estimate the replacement cost of items being stored and arrange insurance coverage. (For a small charge we can arrange insurance for you.)
Choose the right size box and packing material.
Use good quality packing material and boxes of the same size makes stacking easy and makes most of your storage space.
Only fill boxes to their capacity as over bulging or partially full boxes will not provide a sturdy base.
Pack heavy items in smaller boxes so they are easier to carry.
Store items you need frequently at the front near the door.
Protect sofas and mattresses with covers.
Use bubble wrap and or tissue paper to protect your fragile items.
Wrap table and furniture legs with bubble wrap.
Mark boxes with items in them to easily identify their location.
Mark items fragile for extra care.
Tightly sealed boxes prevent dust from entering.
Use valuable space inside drawers and larger appliances to store smaller items.
Place larger items at the end to maximize space.
When storing business boxes leave a walkway for easy access.
DO NOT store combustibles and flammable items. Drain items such as snow blowers before you store them.
DO NOT store food or perishable items.
DO NOT use newsprint to wrap items that could be damaged by ink stains.
